What You’ll Do
Media Relations & PR Strategy
- Serve as day-to-day contact for a roster of institutional clients who adore clarity, competence, and the occasional meme.
- Develop long-term PR strategies, messaging arcs, and angles compelling enough to make journalists actually reply to emails.
- Pitch and coordinate stories with national and local press across print, radio, online, and “we swear this actually gets good engagement” social platforms.
- Manage press on-site at events, concerts, and festivals—making sure everything runs smoothly while looking effortlessly calm.
Client Management
- Be the first call, the trusted sounding board, the steady hand, and the person who always knows what’s happening when.
- Communicate with in-house marketing and communications teams, keeping projects aligned, informed, gloriously successful and blissfully drama-free.
- Help clients understand what will actually make an impact, gently rescuing them from ideas that definitely won’t.
Digital & Social Media
- Oversee and grow clients’ social media channels, digital campaigns, and overall online presence.
- Build content plans that actually move the needle (or at least make someone pause mid-scroll).
- Collaborate with clients and our internal creatives to assemble and distribute photos, videos, graphics, and all the other shiny assets that make the people go wild.
Who You Are
- A world-class communicator with charisma, tact, empathy, and the ability to write emails that people genuinely enjoy reading.
- A natural storyteller who can translate institutional initiatives into narratives that resonate.
- An excellent writer who enjoys toggling between press releases, social copy, pitch notes, speeches, and “quick edits” that somehow become full rewrites.
- Highly organized, efficient, and detail-oriented, with a borderline-romantic relationship to workflows, systems, and checklists.
- Someone with a solid understanding of classical music and its ecosystem - you know the outlets, the players, the timelines, the cycles, the vibes...
- An emotionally intelligent human who works well with others, stays calm under pressure, and knows when to bring levity and when to bring gravitas.
- Tech-savvy, adaptable, self-motivated, and allergic to the phrase “that’s how we’ve always done it.”
The Practical Stuff
- Experience: Bachelor’s degree + ~5 years of relevant experience (PR, communications, digital strategy, arts administration, or similar).
- Schedule: Full-time, in person (three days per week in-office in Greenpoint, Brooklyn), with flexibility for nights/weekends when clients have events.
- Compensation: Annual salary $60,000–$70,000, commensurate with experience.
- Benefits: Health, dental, vision, pet insurance (because your corgi deserves coverage), flexible scheduling, paid travel for events, and as much live music as your heart can handle.
- Growth: Tons of room for creative thinking, new ideas, and experimenting with approaches that haven’t been tried before.
